Customer Services Director
The top team of a £350 million turnover general insurance company wanted to change the organisation’s culture. They had ambitions to double the size of the company over five years, were undertaking a major reengineering of the customer service platform and saw the need for a more proactive and innovative culture in the future.
Liberating Potential did four key things:
- We worked with the top team to develop a business vision framework to guide the development of the culture and behaviours. This included research to benchmark the current culture and the development of culture measures for tracking and evaluating progress.
- We coached the top team as leaders responsible for implementing the new culture.
- Working with other development professionals we designed and delivered a leadership development program for all managers throughout the UK. This used a combination of self-managed learning, group learning workshops, work-based experiential learning and on-site coaching with individuals and business teams.
- We provided change support to leaders in charge of downsizing and work migration. This included support to a management team responsible for closing an office of 400 people. We provided individual coaching and group facilitation to help keep the operation running for nine months following the closure announcement.
After eighteen months there was significant evidence of a change in the culture, with managers taking more initiative at all levels. The sensitivity with which the downsizing was managed supported the development of the new culture. The changes contributed to some very profitable outcomes for the business.
